Changqing Oil Field is the largest oil-gas field in China. Shan-gan-ning Basin is the main exploration area, with a total area of about 370000 square kilometers. The company began formally run independently in January 1, 2000. In March of 2008, China National Petroleum Corporation decided to differentiate and restructure the Changqing Petroleum Exploration Bureau, and integrated the drilling engineering business related institutions and Sichuan petroleum administration bureau corresponding part of the business, known as China's Oil Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company. Most of the rest were classified in Petro China Changqing Oil Field branch, and for the external, it only retain the corporate capacity of Changqing Petroleum Exploration Bureau.
